Aman, a forty-two-year-old man of Nepalese heritage, has spent years building a life in a Western metropolis - only to find it quietly unravelling. His career has collapsed, and the loss of his closest friend has left him increasingly disconnected from the world. But when asked to help organise his niece Kaya's Buddhist wedding, he is drawn back into family traditions long kept at a distance.

Amidst familiar yet distant customs, shifting relationships, and the quiet wisdom of an elderly woman, Aman begins to question the choices that led him here. As memories resurface and tensions rise, he rediscovers lost passions, confronts expectations, and searches for meaning in the spaces between past and present.

"Fusion of Reality follows the journey of Aman, a British-born man of Newar Buddhist heritage and explores themes of family, tradition, identity and personal change. The novel is rooted in the Nepalese diaspora experience, although it features characters from varied cultural and professional backgrounds, reflecting the fusion of realities of contemporary British life.

The novel explores the emotional complexity of modern life, and the realities faced by main second-generation immigrants.

I really enjoyed this novel as it gave me a moment to step back from reality and consider what is important. Culture and tradition often get lost in the speed and anxieties of modern life, and this novel reminds you to prioritise the seemingly small things. I began the story with a sense of annoyance towards the main character at his seemingly detached nature, however as the novel progressed and we get caught up in his world, I realised I was finding more and more ways that I or my loved ones related to him. His journey of self-discovery and realisation echoes the reader's experience of the text as we apply his outlook and experiences to our own lives. The story was structurally engaging, grounded in real-life experiences, and its reflective nature created an incredibly emotional read.

I would recommend it to those who find themselves caught up in the material nature of everyday life and the corporate world, especially anyone who feels they may have lost touch with their cultural roots. It is a reminder to prioritise family and friends and our experiences."
