Frank Herbert’s classic masterpiece—a triumph of the imagination and one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time.

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of Paul Atreides—who would become known as Muad'Dib—and of a great family's ambition to bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

"Of course this futuristic sci-fi fantasy novel isn't set in Jordan, however Jordan is the perfect place if you want to feel like you're walking on the planet Arrakis (without any sandworms hunting you), in fact many portions of the film were filmed in Jordan.

Down to the core, this is a tale of geo-politics, religion and resource with many Arabic and Middle-eastern themes and metaphors. The people of Arrakis, Fremen, have forged a way of life in this baron, seemingly wasteland of a planet however they have an incredible magic like resource "spice" - similar to Jordan's incredible spice trade to date! (But more likely a metaphor for oil...)

Others want in and to profit from the spice and this is where we see different off-planet factions feud over Arrakis. Perhaps a young royal type coming-of-age boy might come forward and bring around some kind of peace?

So if you ever find yourself on Explore's Walking Jordan Spice Trails tour, and you fancy pretending you're in another world, I'd give this one a go!"
